Economy Days in Luxembourg


On the February 4 — 5  Russian Ambassador Mark Entin participated in conference «Economy Days in Luxembourg: Réinventer Luxembourg». Since 2006, the Economy Days have been organised every February, assembling a community of entrepreneurs, leaders, institutional administrators, politicians and decision-makers from Luxembourg and the Greater Region. This conference presents an opportunity to take stock of the economic situation and contemplate ways to boost the development of businesses in Luxembourg and the Greater Region through open discussions.

A few months after the advanced governmental elections, the annual Economy Days was steeped in an economic and political context marked by the new government’s economic programme. The conference took place on Tuesday 4 February in the afternoon and Wednesday 5 February in the morning at the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce, and consisted of two segments.

The first session was focused on the economic programme of the new government and on the objectives that the new coalition has set in terms of Luxembourg’s economic development. Economists and decision-makers conferred on the key issues the country is facing and the potential drivers for sustainable growth as well as discussions about the promotion of Luxembourg abroad and the main factors determining the country’s attractivity.

There were two round tables within the conference: «Economic policy for the future of Luxembourg» and «How to change the image of Luxembourg?». The atmosphere was optimistic, the concrete measures which  could improve economic situation of the country and to ensure sustainable and balanced growth were proposed.

The conference gathered many famous politicians and economists, among the speakers were: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Economy E. Schneider; Director General of the Chamber of Commerce C.Thelen, CEO of «Luxembourg for Finance» N.Mackel, Chairman of the Economic and Social Council G.Kneip and many others.
