Old New Year state reception
On the 13th of January the Russian-speaking community in Luxembourg, together with the whole country, celebrated the Old New Year. At the invitation of the Ambassador of Russia in Luxembourg, M.L. Entin, a significant number gathered at the Embassy to be together, to listen and sing Russian songs, socialize and of course raise a glass or two to joyfully celebrate the Old New Year — a wonderful, bright, fabulous and colorful event. Whilst there were no firecrackers or fireworks, it was a festive celebration full of fun.
Addressing his guests, the Ambassador proposed a toast for the prosperity of Russia and Luxembourg, for the health of their people, for the further strengthening of the traditionally friendly and warm relations between them, for their welfare and future prosperity in 2013 and all the years to come. He noted that relations were on the rise with a number of new joint projects in the spheres of culture, education and in humanitarian, economic, financial and tourism areas occurring at present; the community consists of energetic, knowledgeable and adventurous people, many of whom could take the most active parts in these projects, in their design and implementation.
The soloists of the Russian choral ensemble «Reebou» and the folk ensemble «Soul of Russia» performed for the guests. The Old New Year reception was a memorable event, held in a warm and relaxed atmosphere. The guests expressed their enjoyment and also their appreciation to all the diplomats and embassy staff for making the reception a wonderful Russian evening. Special thanks to the heads of representative offices of the Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States, Compatriots Living Abroad and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo) in Luxembourg A.Blinov and the Russian Club of Luxembourg V.Yampolsky who made great contributions to the celebration.
