Improving relations between Russia and the European Union and more effective use of the abilities of the Council of Europe to address Europe-wide problems were among the crucial topics discussed at the meeting. However, the politicians focused on the prospects for the expansion of bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

Following the meeting, S. E. Naryshkin met the President of the Chamber of Deputies of Luxembourg L. Mosar. It covered a wide range of international issues, including the situation in Syria, the Arab world, the Middle East and Central Asia. MPs discussed the domestic issues of both countries, overall trends in the political, economic and social fields, and the protection of human rights. During the meeting the participants with great interest discussed the contribution of parliamentary institutions in deepening mutual understanding and partnership between Russia and Luxembourg. All discussions, including ones of the most complex and controversial issues were held in a warm and friendly atmosphere. MPs spoke openly, without embarrassment and were focused on the key issues of the discussions.

Following the visit, the parties came to the conclusion that both parties are benefiting from such direct emotional communication. These contacts should be expanded and become permanent.
