Statement by Ambassador M.L. Entin at the opening of the exhibition of life-size icons in Neumünster Abbey
The Russian Ambassador in Luxembourg M.L. Entin gave a speech in front of the representatives of the Russian community and Luxembourgers. His speech focused on the importance of family and love, which are of course fundamental concepts, and which lay the foundations for every person; what makes individuals better or worse. Our understanding of how strong Russia is, can be better related by seeing the icons. Unfortunately, the reputation of Russia in Europe has been largely influenced by the memories of criminals and gangsters of the early 90′s, which is why the demonstration of all of the spiritual and reverential depth that Russians have — icons — is extremely important today. Those who want to understand true Russia, who wants to answer the question of the power and mystery of the Russian soul, should visit this exhibition.
On the 21st of January the opening ceremony of the exhibition “Life-size Icons: Past and Present” was held at Neumünster Abbey through the intermediary of the Russian Embassy and the Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Luxembourg. The exhibition of the Russian Club of Orthodox patrons was successfully held in European capitals and in Sri Lanka. This exhibition presented in Luxembourg is unique as it was the first time that the icon with St. Nicholas’ face from the Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius was brought to Luxembourg.
