The press-release of the 9th session of the Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation (JCEC)

On November 13 the 9th session of the Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation (JCEC) between the Russian Federation and the Belgium- Luxembourg Economic Union (BLEU) took place in Brussels. The Russian part of the Commission was headed by Deputy Prime Minister of Russia D.Rogozin, the Belgian part was headed by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and European Affairs of Belgium D.Reinders and the Luxembourg part was headed by Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade of Luxembourg E.Shneider.

The representative Russian delegation took part in the work of the Commission. It consisted of the senior representatives of federal and regional executive authorities, corporate executives, as well as those who represent Russian business. Among the participants of the 9th session were «Rosmorport», «Opora Rossii», Russian Technologies, Vnesheconombank, JSC “Academician M.F. Reshetnev “Information Satellite Systems“, «Volga -Dnepr», JSC «EXIAR», JSC «R-Pharm»,  Roskosmos, «ALROSA», «Eurochem», «Lukoil», etc.

At the end of the 9th session of the JCEC co-chairpersons signed the final verbal process. There were also signed a number of agreements and memorandums of cooperation:

Agreement on mutual obligations on the reinsurance between EXIAR and the export- credit agency of Luxembourg “Office du Ducroire”,

          Memorandum of Cooperation between JSC «United Aircraft Corporation» and the Belgian company “LMS”,

          Memorandum of Understanding between JSC «Ramenskoe Instrument Design Bureau» and the Belgian company «Barco»,

          Memorandum of Understanding in the field of energy efficiency and renewable energy between the State Organization «Russian Energy Agency» and technology park «Greenbridge» (Belgium),

          Memorandum of Cooperation between the State Organization «Russian Energy Agency» and the Luxembourg organization MyEnergie in the field of energy efficiency and renewable energy,

Agreement on cooperation between the Russian Public Organization of Small and Medium Enterprises «Opora Rossii» and “AGORIA International Business” (a division of the Belgian Federation of Enterprises),
Protocol of intent for the organization of academic exchanges and internships in the field of Health and Natural Sciences between the «Opora zdorovia» and non-profit organization Healthcare Belgium,

Memorandum of understanding and cooperation between the «National Medical Chamber» and the United Association of Medical workers of Belgium,
Agreement on mutual understanding and cooperation between «Nuclear technology in medicine» and the group «IBA» (Belgium).

In the framework of the 9th session the Russian Trade Representation in Belgium organized a business forum, which was attended by over 300 representatives of interested Belgium, Luxembourg and Russian companies and organizations. D.Rogozin, D.Reinders and E.Shneider were at the opening ceremony. In his speech Dmitry Rogozin stressed the importance of cooperation of Russia, Belgium and Luxembourg and pointed out the importance of further development of partnership, particularly in such areas as nanotechnology, microelectronics, high-tech manufacturing, medicine and pharmaceuticals, investment. Meanwhile the Russian Deputy Prime Minister said that he didn’t want even mention the specific documents that were considered in the framework of the Joint Commission. «For me more important is the spirit, the atmosphere, that we can feel, it aims to create the most favorable conditions for the comprehensive, extensive multi-faceted cooperation», — said Dmitry Rogozin. For its part D.Reinders said: «The 9th mixed tripartite commission proved its political and economic ties that will bring concrete benefits to our businesses.» The business forum was held in the format of thematic round tables:

    Aviation and space,
Transport and logistics,
Health care and pharmaceuticals,
Innovation, investment and finance,
Energy and petrochemicals.

According to the results of the round tables the promising areas of cooperation were noted. First of all it is the cooperation in the field of innovation, collaborative research and technology development, the development of transport infrastructure, aerospace technology, medicine and pharmaceuticals, increased interaction of Russian technology platforms and regional innovation clusters with the Belgian and Luxembourg organizations.

It is worth noting that the parties agreed to hold the next 10th session of the Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Belgium- Luxembourg Economic Union in the order of priority in Luxembourg in 2015.
