The reception of the Embassy of Russia in honor of the sponsors of the Russian Ball «and of the Russian stand at the International Bazaar
April 24. The Embassy of Russia in Luxembourg hosted a reception in the historic Beggen castle in honor of the sponsors of two charity projects — «Russian Ball» and the Russian stand at the International Bazaar. The grand event was attended by representatives of government, banks and financial institutions, science and culture, media, activists of the Russian community — all those who contributed to the organization of these events.
In his opening remarks, Ambassador Mark Entin noted how active is the Russian community in the Grand Duchy.
The Ambassador also stressed that in the current year it is planned to implement more ambitious projects — in particular, the Administration of the City of Luxembourg put forward an idea of organizing The Russian week in the Luxembourg capital.
The Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade of Luxembourg Etienne Schneider, who assumes the patronage of «Russian Ball», said he was glad to observe the broadening of bilateral cooperation between Russia and Luxembourg. Accoding to him initiatives such as the «Russian Ball» and active participation in the International Charity Bazaar contribute significantly to the further rapprochement of the two countries.
Former Ambassador of Luxembourg in Russia, the honorable court marshal Guy de Myuzer, a representative of the charitable organization «SOS Village Enfants», in his emotional speech on behalf of the children thanked the sponsors who donated large sums to children’s charity programs in Russia.
Organizers of the «Russian Ball» and the Russian stand Vsevolod Yampolsky and Natalia Sutugina thanked the sponsors and handed over checks to charitable projects.
Held on January 19, 2013 «Russian Ball» has collected 32 thousand euros, half of which was transferred to charity «SOS Village Enfants» for homeless and orphaned children in Russia, the other 16 thousand — to the Russian Foundation for Children with impaired immunity «Sunflower».
The Russian stand, one of the most popular during the International Charity Bazaar held on 1-2 December 2012, gathered 23 thousand euros. The funds were transferred to a crisis center for homeless girls in St. Petersburg, the majority of whom are HIV-positive.
