Russia received observer status in the Committee on Government Procurement of the World Trade Organization

Russia became the 27th browser on the Committee on Government Procurement of the World Trade Organization. The decision on granting Russian the status of observer in the plurilateral Agreement on Government Procurement was adopted by the Committee on Government Procurement, May 29, 2013.

In the process of its accession to the WTO, Russia has agreed to initiate a connection to the Agreement on Government Procurement, within four years of becoming a WTO member.

Openness, transparency and non-discrimination — the basic principles that lie at the basis of the Agreement on Government Procurement. An important feature of this agreement is that it does not automatically apply to all members of the government procurement agreement. Coverage obligations of each country acceding to this Agreement shall be determined in the course of negotiations with the other parties to the agreement and recorded in the relevant Annexes to the Agreement.
