Election of the new chairman of the Chamber of Deputies

On December 5th, 2013 — Mars Dee Bartolomeo, the former Minister of Health was unanimously elected as the new chairman of parliament. At the same time 25 more deputies were adjured, one of them — the former Prime minister Jean-Claude Juncker.

The Luxembourg socialist Labour party is going to lead the Parliament for the first time ever since 1979. The interesting fact — the last chairman of the Chamber of Deputies from socialists was Rehn Van Bukle, the grandfather of newly elected vice-chairman of the Chamber of Deputies Franz Fayot. Three other vice-chairmen: Simone Bayzel (DP), Henry Koch (Dei Greng), Laurent Mozar (CSV).

Bartolomeo was quite clear in his speech — he does not want to be «a man with a bell», he wishes himself «many-sided parliament». After long crisis, loss of trust — last elections and new people should set in motion the formation of the new beginning. Hopes and expectations are very high, therefore the main task now is — to roll up sleeves and to start constantly working.
