Jean Asselborn meets Secretary of State for European Affairs, chief negotiator of Montenegro, Aleksandar Andrija Pejovic, in Luxembourg
April, 18. As part of his working visit to Luxembourg the Secretary of State for European Affairs, chief negotiator of Montenegro, Aleksandar Andrija Pejovic, met with the Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister of Luxembourg, Jean Asselborn at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During their meeting, Minister Asselborn and Secretary of State Aleksandar Andrija Pejovic first discussed bilateral relations between Luxembourg and Montenegro, praising the high quality of them.
The discussion was then consecrated to the question of Montenegro’s accession to the European Union. Montenegro filed in 2008 its application for membership and the European Council decided in June 2012 to open accession negotiations.
In this context, the Minister Asselborn paid tribute to the fact that Montenegro has made significant progress in the fight against corruption and organized crime and encouraged the country to continue the path of reforms.
Finally, Minister Asselborn and Secretary of State for European Affairs of Montenegro exchanged their ideas on the issues related to the European political problems.
