Juncker elected as EPP candidate

Jean-Claude Juncker, the former prime minister of Luxembourg, has been elected by the centre-right European Peoples Party (EPP) to be its head of the list on upcoming European elections.

382 delegates at the EPP’s party congress in Dublin voted for Juncker, while 245 voted for his challenger Michel Barnier, the European commissioner for the internal market from France.
