Luxembourg financial mission to China and Singapore


Luxembourg Finance Minister Pierre Gramegna will visit Beijing, Shanghai and Singapore from June 30th to July 4th. The main purpose of this mission organized by the Luxembourg for Finance is to develop the financial sector of the Grand Duchy. The minister will be accompanied by a large delegation of more than 70 representatives of the financial sector. The visit is reflecting the huge interest of the Luxembourg financial center for the Asian markets.

In China Pierre Gramegna will be received by the Chinese Minister for Finance, Lou Jiwei. It will be the first political contact between the two ministers and with the governor of the Chinese central bank, Zhou Xiaochuan.

Moreover, the meetings of Pierre Gramegna with the key officials of the supervisory authorities of the Chinese financial sector as well as the heads of the parent Chinese banks established in Luxembourg are scheduled. The Finance Minister will also meet with managers of other Chinese financial institutions to further promote the benefits of the Luxembourg site such as gateway to Europe and as an ideal platform to establish the general quarters in Europe.

In Singapore Pierre Gramegna will have talks with the Singapore Finance Minister, Tharman Shanmugaratnam, to discuss current issues related to the taxation and the supervision of financial markets.
