Luxemburg’s GDP rose 2.4 % on a year

Luxembourg’s GDP grew in the second quarter. 

According to the latest Statec statistics, in the second quarter 2013 GDP volume growth in Luxembourg was 2.4 % compared to the second quarter of 2012 and 1.6 % compared to the previous quarter.

By sectors the value of financial and insurance activities increased by 0.8 % compared to the previous quarter. The evolution of the other main branches of economy for the same period is as follows: «public sector, education and health administration» +1.7 %, «trade, transportation, accommodation and food» +1.9 %, «business services and location» –3.8%, «real estate activities» +1.0 %, «information and communication» +8.2 %, «industry, including energy and water supply » +1.0 % and «construction» +7.1 %.

Statec after reviewing some figures also revised down the annual GDP growth for 2012 to –0.2% instead of +0.3 % earlier. For 2011 the agency reviewed GDP growth to 1.9 % instead of 1.7 %.
