Minister Asselborn on Egypt Crisis
Luxembourg’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Jean Asselborn, attended an emergency meeting of the European Union foreign ministers in Brussels on the current crisis in Egypt.
The meeting of EU Foreign Affairs ministers discussed recent developments and the deepening crisis in Egypt, as well as the European response, including possible consequences.
Minister Asselborn deplored violations of human rights and acts of terrorism in Egypt and called for the respect of the principles of the rule of law. The Minister spoke in favor of a strong message of solidarity of the European Union to the attention of the Egyptian people who aspire to democracy and peace. The EU must not disappoint the Egyptian youth for which the values espoused by the EU are an important reference for future, said Jean Asselborn.
