Prime Ministers of Luxembourg and France met in Paris
The first meeting between the Prime Minister of Luxembourg, Xavier Bettel, and his new French counterpart, Manuel Valls, passed in a good atmosphere. It was an official visit at the invitation of the new leader of the government, nominated a few weeks ago by the French President, Francois Hollande.
The meeting at the Matignon Hotel allowed two Premiers to discuss bilateral relations between France and Luxembourg as well as pressing international issues.
Xavier Bettel and Manuel Valls confirmed that political and economic relations between France and Luxembourg were «excellent». In this context, they pointed out that there were more than 35,000 French residents in Luxembourg. There are also a lot of French companies established in Luxembourg, not to mention some 80,000 French who cross the border every day to work in the Grand Duchy.
To further strengthen the cooperation between France and Luxembourg, Xavier Bettel and Manuel Valls decided to organize by the end of the year an intergovernmental meeting. It will be chaired by the two prime ministers.
