The «Environment» Council in Luxembourg

The environment ministers of the EU met on October 14 in Luxembourg, where a meeting of the «Environment» Council for the first time under the Lithuanian Presidency was held. The Ministers discussed the conclusions of the Council on the preparation to the 19th Conference of the parties of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change and the ninth meeting of the parties of the Kyoto Protocol to be held in November in Warsaw.

The Council adopted conclusions on the basis of compromise. The agreement focused on that Lithuania, which will lead the EU delegation to the Conference of Warsaw and the European Commission will present a united European position on climate change issues.
